Terms of Use

Last updated: 12 October 2026

These terms apply to the Mandarin Hero app, made by Nuli (nuli.nl). By using the app you agree to them. Questions: info@nuli.nl.

Free and Hero Pro

The first stage of lessons, HSK 1 and 2, and reviews of everything you’ve learned are free. Hero Pro unlocks the other lessons and HSK 3 to 6. What’s included may change over time as content is added.

Subscriptions

  • Hero Pro is offered as a monthly or yearly subscription, or as a one-time lifetime purchase. Prices are shown in the app before you buy.
  • Payment is charged to your App Store or Google Play account when you confirm the purchase.
  • A subscription renews automatically at the same price and length unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before that.
  • If a free trial is offered, you’re charged when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. Any unused part of a trial ends when you buy a subscription.
  • You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your App Store or Google Play account settings, or in the app under Profile → Settings → Subscription. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies.
  • If you cancel, cards you’ve already learned stay free to review.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details to yourself. You can delete your account at any time, see Support. Deleting it doesn’t cancel a subscription.

Content

The app’s lessons, cards, audio and illustrations are ours or licensed to us, for your personal, non-commercial use. Some example sentences come from Tatoeba (CC BY 2.0 FR).

No guarantees

We work hard to make the content correct, but the app is provided as is, without warranty, and we can’t guarantee it’s free of errors or always available. To the extent the law allows, we’re not liable for indirect damages arising from its use. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under Dutch or EU law.

Changes

We may update these terms; the current version is always on this page. These terms are governed by Dutch law.

For iOS users, Apple’s standard EULA also applies.
